Binders is open source itself, and stands on open-source software and openly licensed models. The full licence texts ship inside the app, under Settings, Acknowledgements.

Binders itself

Binders is open source. Copyright © 2026 Helder Feixas, licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 3. You can read the code behind every privacy claim on this site, build it yourself, and change it, at github.com/binders-io/app. The Binders name and icon are not part of that licence, so a modified version needs its own.

Speech models

  • Parakeet TDT 0.6B v2 and v3, © NVIDIA Corporation, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Converted to Core ML by FluidInference. Binders does not change the model weights.
  • Whisper large-v3-turbo, © OpenAI, MIT Licence. Converted to Core ML by Argmax, Inc.

The language model is one you install yourself, for example through Ollama, under that model’s own licence.
